What are light pods used for?
LED light pods can be used in a variety of outdoor applications and can attach to a variety of different points on trucks, SUVs, and Jeeps. We offer LED pod lights in either spot or flood beam patterns.
What are light bars used for?
LED light bars are a tool for providing concentrated, powerful light. North Lights currently offers light bars in a variety of lengths from 10" to 50" in single row or dual/double row options. The LED Light Bars are a combo of flood and spot beam patterns.
What is the difference between spot and flood beam patterns along with combination of flood and spot?
Flood beam patterns are ideal for achieving more side visibility while driving at slower speeds, while spot beam patterns perform at higher speeds and situations where longer visibility is needed.
Combination of spot and flood pattern are used to provide beam of light both on the side and in front to provide optimal visibility.
What does beam pattern mean?
Beam pattern refers to the angle at which the bulbs in an LED light bar cast their light. Spot beams are much narrower in angle and throw a beam a much farther distance, while flood beams provide more light on the sides but are less penetrating. Your choice is dependent upon your intended purpose. Generally, spot beams are better for on-road driving while flood beams are better for off-road. Alternatively, you could choose to go with a light bar that is equipped with a combination of spot and flood LEDs - a highly popular choice.
What is a lumen?
Lumens measure how much light you are getting from a bulb. A standard 60-watt light bulb produces 700-800 lumens of light. North light pods and bars produce 1,940 - 47,600 lumens of light!
What is an IP rating?
An LED light’s IP (Ingress Protection or International Protection) rating declares the level of protection it has against the elements. Our light pods and bars are rated at IP68 and IP69k. The are dust tight and provide complete protection from dust and contact. The highest rating an LED Light can achieve is IP69K.
What’s the difference between IP68 and IP69k?
IP68 protects against dust and full water immersion beyond 3 feet. IP69k protects agains dust, full water immersion, and high-pressure and high-temperature water.
How durable are North Lights products?
North Lights sells only the most durable, long-lasting products. Our light pods and bars are IP68 and IP69k rated, cased in aluminum, and tough enough for off-road use. If you feel you have received a defective product, please contact us.
Where are North Lights made?
Our lights are made by our trusted manufacturing partners in China. The factories that we work with have a rich history of producing top-notch lights for outdoor use and they work closely with our Texas-based team in the testing and development of new products.
How can I mount my North lights?
All North Lights come with universal mounts. You can attach these mounts directly to a surface via bolts, or you can use a variety of third-party aftermarket mounts for specific applications and vehicles.
How do I wire my LED light pods or light bars?
North Lights wiring harnesses are designed to be easily connected to a standard 12V battery and come with our LED pod lights and light bars.
Can North lights be plugged into an electrical outlet?
No - North light pods and bars are designed to be wired to a 12V batter or switch panel.
Can I drive with my North Lights on?
Please check your state and local laws before driving on public roads with your light pods or bars turned on or attached to your vehicle. North Lights are not DOT approved and for offroad use only.
What is the warranty on North products?
North offers a Limited Lifetime Warranty. See our warranty policy for full details.
Can I return my products?
All unused North Lights products are eligible for a hassle-free return within 30-days of purchase.
Do you offer a military discount?
We do offer a military / first responder’s discount through ID.me. In order to receive your special discount with your ID.me account, you will first need to be approved through ID.me. You can submit your verification here: https://api.id.me/en/registration/new
Do you offer a dealer program?
If you're interested in becoming a dealer please fill out our online dealer application. Please note that we are only accepted a limited number of dealers at this time and dealers must be based in the United States.
Do you offer promotions?
We do occasionally offer special promotions or discounts. Promotions cannot be combined with other offers and valid only on North Light products (bars, pods, rock lights). Promotion codes must entered at the time of checkout. You can find more details on our promotional policies here.
